This one of a kind bowl is made from three shades of glass, ruby red, orange-red, and ruby pink. The glass is cut and layered in overlapping concentric circles. The first firing is with the glass between two kiln shelves called a “Pressed Glass” firing. There are stainless steel washers in each corner to prevent the glass from becoming too thin. Once this piece is completed, the circle is backed with a clear piece of glass and fired. Next all the flowers are added into a cascade of flowers. That combination is tack fused together so the flowers stick but don’t melt completely keeping their 3D appearance. That final piece is "slumped" using a large ceramic mold.
